Baseball Game Preview: Olathe Pirates vs. Cedaredge Bruins

Olathe is 2-8 against Cedaredge since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Pirates will face off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Olathe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Olathe will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Fort Lupton on Saturday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bluedevils. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Bryce Good made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Olathe: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. Good was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last 12 contests.

Good wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Eddy, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Eddy a new career-high. Luke Robertson was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Cedaredge had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cowboys by a score of 6-3. That's two games straight that the Bruins have won by exactly three runs.

Rylan Brooks was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

Cedaredge's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Olathe, their record is now 8-5.
