Softball Recap: Fort Bend Hightower Extends Winning Streak to Two

Fort Bend Hightower hadn't done well against Fort Bend Dulles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Hurricanes' pitcher stepped up to hand the Vikings a 20-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hurricanes, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Jenise Tristan was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Baylee Bonner was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Alana Ou was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

The win made it two in a row for Fort Bend Hightower and bumps their season record up to 15-3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Fort Bend Dulles, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Fort Bend Hightower is set to square off against their familiar foe Fort Bend Clements at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fort Bend Dulles will challenge rival Fort Bend Elkins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
