Basketball Recap: Dirigo Takes a Loss

Dirigo lost against Monmouth Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Dirigo Cougars took a 39-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Monmouth Academy Mustangs.

Despite the loss, Dirigo saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Abigail Luczynski posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Emily Woods, who had four points.

Dirigo's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Monmouth Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

Dirigo will be playing at home against Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valley will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something Dirigo surely won't give up without a fight. As for Monmouth Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-39 loss against Hall-Dale on the 25th.
