Baseball Recap: Montgomery Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Montgomery Central can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They never let the Sycamore War Eagles get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the War Eagles last Monday, they had to take a 4-3 loss.

The result came thanks to Dylan Fulton's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Matthew Heimpel was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Montgomery Central is undefeated when Heimpel posts two or more runs, but 0-9 otherwise. Noah Suggs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Montgomery Central picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Sycamore, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, Montgomery Central and Sycamore will both be playing Dickson County the next time they take the field. Sycamore will host Dickson County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Montgomery Central will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
