Softball Recap: West Iredell Warriors vs. St. Stephens Indians

West Iredell had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 4-11 to make it four. They lost 12-2 to the St. Stephens Indians. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 8-5 to the Indians when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

West Iredell saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Johnson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for St. Stephens, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

On St. Stephens' side, Anicka McFarland made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). McFarland has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Kolbie Harron was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

St. Stephens wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against East Lincoln on the 29th. Hopefully West Iredell paid attention to the Indians' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
