Basketball Recap: Darrius Favors Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bowdon

While Manchester's win against Bowdon wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Manchester Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 victory over the Bowdon Red Devils on Wednesday. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while the Red Devils are ranked 397th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Manchester's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Darrius Favors, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Jhiere Terry was another key player, putting up four points in addition to 11 boards and four blocks.

Manchester smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Bowdon still got an impressive performance from Kaiden Prothro, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 41.5% of Bowdon's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Wilson, who put up ten points and seven boards.

Manchester's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Bowdon, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Manchester has already played their next game, a 0-0 victory against Atlanta Classical Academy on the 17th. As for Bowdon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 77-68 win against Greenville on the 17th.
