Volleyball Recap: Cactus Takes a Loss

Cactus was the 2-1 winner over Gilbert Christian when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Cobras fell just short of the Knights by a score of 2-1 on Friday.

Despite the defeat, Cactus saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Vinnie Vitale had 21 digs and two assists. Vitale has been hot recently, having posted 21 or more digs the last three times he's played. Adzel Morales was another key player, getting 12 digs.

Talon Heafey was the offensive standout of the game as he had ten digs and one assist.

Cactus has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Gilbert Christian, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Cactus has already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Estrella Foothills on the 11th. As for Gilbert Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Seton Catholic on the 11th.
