Softball Recap: Pendleton Takes a Loss

Pendleton had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-11 to make it five. They came up short against the West-Oak Warriors, falling 12-1. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for West-Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Considering they have won 13 matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For West-Oak's part, Cassie Stoltzfus was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Stoltzfus has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

In other batting news, Tori Roy was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Anna Blackwell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Coming up, Pendleton will welcome Ware Shoals at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for West-Oak, they will venture away from home to face off against Greenville H at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.25 runs per game on average), something the Warriors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
