Lily Thorpe leads a balanced attack to beat Lisbon

Recap: Oakes Tornadoes vs. Lisbon Broncos

The Oakes Tornadoes won the last time they faced the Lisbon Broncos, and things went their way on Monday too. Oakes snuck past Lisbon with a 40-34 win.

Oakes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lily Thorpe, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Schmitz, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

Oakes' lineup was just a bit different on Monday as Jocelyn Quandt got a bit more time on the court (21 vs. her season average of 7.56). Quandt made the most of the opportunity, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Despite the defeat, Lisbon saw an underclassman step up: Tarynn Gilbert almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kyra Haecherl, who scored five points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Oakes' win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Lisbon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Oakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lisbon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carrington at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lisbon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Dakota Rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Carrington is ranked 16th).
