Basketball Recap: Central Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Central Christian Academy played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 57-25 defeat at the hands of the Bennington Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 61st).

Central Christian Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Laila Hernandez, who posted nine points in addition to seven boards and four blocks, and Avery Luckner, who earned six points. With that strong performance, Hernandez is now averaging an impressive 2.1 blocks per game.

It was another big night for Rori Miles, who went 7 for 15 to rack up 22 points and three steals for Bennington. The contest was Miles' third in a row with at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Clark, who had six points and six rebounds.

Central Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Bennington, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Central Christian Academy has already played their next match (against Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Bennington, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-35 defeat against Moundridge on the 10th.
