Softball Recap: Chantilly Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Chantilly's offense. They fell 4-0 to the South Lakes Seahawks on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Seahawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in April.

Bella Eig was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Chantilly dropped their record down to 3-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for South Lakes, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Chantilly is set to challenge their familiar foe Oakton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, South Lakes will square off against rival Westfield at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
