Basketball Game Preview: Holmes County Blue Devils vs. Wildwood Wildcats

The Holmes County Blue Devils will challenge the Wildwood Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Holmes County comes in on 14 and Wildwood on 24.

Holmes County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They strolled past Hilliard with points to spare, taking the game 56-39. 56 seems to be a good number for the Blue Devils as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

It was another big night for Emma Whitaker, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacee Bowers, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Wildwood challenged Blountstown on Wednesday. Wildwood breezed past Blountstown to the tune of 67-32. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 28 points or more this season.

Wildwood's win came from a few key players Holmes County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zoey Brown, who went 8-for-11 on her way to 19 points in addition to eight steals and five assists. What's more, she also posted a 73% shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in February of 2024. Adejah Corbin was another key player, going 8-for-18 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds.

Holmes County's record now sits at 26-2. As for Wildwood, their record now sits at 24-0.

Holmes County lost to Wildwood on the road by a decisive 64-47 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2017. Can Holmes County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
