Softball Recap: Ripon Comes Up Short

Ripon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 14-4 to the Laconia Spartans. The Tigers were not able to make up for their loss to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Lily Kwakkel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryn Carlson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Ripon's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Laconia, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ripon will face off against Randolph at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Laconia, they will take on Mayville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Spartans have won three straight at home, while the Cardinals won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
