Softball Recap: Chugiak Gets the Win

Chugiak had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Sitka Wolves 8-7. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Torri Jolin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chugiak got a massive performance out of Brooklyn McCormick, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI McCormick has posted since back in May. Abi Lanehart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Chugiak hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Chugiak's victory bumped their record up to 16-1. As for Sitka, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-8.

As of now, neither Chugiak nor the Wolves have any future games scheduled.
