Football Game Preview: Kittatinny Regional Cougars vs. Wallkill Valley Rangers

The Kittatinny Regional Cougars will take on the Wallkill Valley Rangers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kittatinny Regional took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 43-19 margin over Dover. With the Cougars ahead 35-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Kittatinny Regional had a senior duo take command as Niko Martinez gained 171 total yards and Jack Brex threw for 209 yards and three TDs on only ten passes. Martinez also set a new season-high mark in receiving yards with 140. Vinny Falchetta also helped out with an impressive 85 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Wallkill Valley entered their tilt with Lenape Valley on Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 14-6 victory over the Patriots.

Wallkill Valley's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Scottie Weiss and Ethan Alfonso. Weiss rushed for 78 yards and one score while Alfonso picked up 51 receiving yards.

Kittatinny Regional's record now sits at 7-2. As for Wallkill Valley, their record is now an identical 7-2.

Saturday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Kittatinny Regional has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wallkill Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 158.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Kittatinny Regional barely slipped by Wallkill Valley when the teams last played back in September, winning 14-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
