Basketball Recap: UR Academy Comes Up Short

UR Academy was the 62-58 winner over Providence Classical when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Lions were outmatched by the Paladins and fell 68-34. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-18.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremiah Logan, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Malcolm Rivers, who earned six points and three steals.

Providence Classical found their leader in sophomore Grafton Eiff, who shot 75% from the field to rack up 17 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Eiff has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 20 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi Thompson, who went 5-for-8 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

This is the second loss in a row for UR Academy and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Providence Classical, their record is now 4-1.

Coming up, UR Academy will challenge Alexander Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Providence Classical, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Covenant Classical at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Paladins will be up against the Warriors' rather soft defense (which has allowed 53 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
