Softball Recap: Cathedral Prep's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Cathedral Prep's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the North East Grape Pickers by a score of 10-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Ramblers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Morgan Madura spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Emily Dudenhoeffer was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kendyll Steves, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Cathedral Prep now has a winning record of 6-5. As for North East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cathedral Prep will square off against Conneaut Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North East, they will venture away from home to face off against Fairview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Grape Pickers surely won't give up without a fight.
