Softball Game Preview: Northwest Knights vs. Middletown Middies

Northwest is on a six-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Middletown an eight-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The Northwest Knights will be playing at home against the Middletown Middies at 7:00 p.m. Northwest has given up an average of 17.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Northwest's offense. They lost 14-0 to Talawanda on Tuesday. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Knights' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Middletown scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Colerain by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Middies have suffered since March 27th.

Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Middletown, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-14.

Northwest suffered a grim 20-2 defeat to Middletown in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
