Recap: Weldon Chargers vs. North Edgecombe Warriors
The Weldon Chargers can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They came out on top against North Edgecombe by a score of 47-40. The victory was just what Weldon needed coming off of a 65-44 defeat in their prior match.
Weldon was led to victory by Kamya Coles and Shaelyn Johnson. Coles scored 22 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Johnson scored 13 points along with five steals. Johnson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season.
North Edgecombe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Teana Ransome, who scored ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Diamond Wilson, who scored ten points.
Weldon's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for North Edgecombe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weldon will take on the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren County comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for North Edgecombe, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
