Volleyball Recap: Somerville Highlanders vs. Lynn Classical Rams
Somerville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lynn Classical Rams. The Highlanders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 3-2.
In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Somerville sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 22-25, 25-18, 20-25, 15-13.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lynn Classical to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luca Lopriore, who had seven digs and three aces. That's the most aces Lopriore has posted over his last nine matches.
Somerville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Lynn Classical, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-7.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Somerville is set to face off against their familiar foe Everett at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Lynn Classical will square off against rival Chelsea at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Rams' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Red Devils have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
