Cocoa Beach falls despite strong effort from Jay Matthews

Recap: Cocoa Beach Minutemen vs. Cocoa Tigers

The Cocoa Beach Minutemen's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Cocoa 51-46. Cocoa Beach has not had much luck with Cocoa recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Cocoa Beach still got an impressive performance from Jay Matthews, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Max Louis was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 12 rebounds and three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cocoa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tyrone Rogers, who scored nine points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Travon Graves, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.

Cocoa Beach's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Cocoa, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Cocoa Beach will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Eau Gallie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Friday. As for Cocoa, they will take on Rockledge at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Rockledge presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cocoa in Florida (Rockledge is ranked 45th, while Cocoa is ranked 468th).
