Baseball Game Preview: Decatur Golden Gators vs. Enumclaw Hornets

For the second straight game, Decatur will face off against Enumclaw. The Golden Gators will challenge the Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Decatur 1.4, Enumclaw 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Decatur had been on a six-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Enumclaw put an end to it on Monday. The Golden Gators fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 2-1. The loss was the Golden Gators' first of the season.

Hunter Buol spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Decatur saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cervantes (CJ) Gatterson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Enumclaw and bumps their season record up to 12-2. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Decatur, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Decatur has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Enumclaw struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
