Softball Recap: Roosevelt Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Roosevelt waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the McDaniel Mountain Lions 12-4. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Ruby Frish was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Zulaykha Armstrachan was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Livi Jones was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Roosevelt kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Roosevelt's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for McDaniel, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-13.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roosevelt is set to face off against their familiar foe Franklin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, McDaniel will square off against rival Lincoln at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
