Basketball Game Preview: Spring Woods Tigers vs. Victoria East Titans

The Spring Woods Tigers will face off against the Victoria East Titans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Spring Woods is coming into the contest hot, having won their last ten games.

Last Tuesday, Spring Woods took their match with ease, bagging a 53-12 win over Milby. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 20 points or more this season.

Melody Nowling had an outrageously good game as she went 9 for 16 on her way to 15 points and three steals. What's more, she also posted a 56% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cynthia Delcid, who went 6 of 10 to rack up 9 points and seven boards.

Spring Woods smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in 17 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Victoria East won against Lamar Consolidated last Friday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Everything went Victoria East's way against Fort Bend Kempner as Victoria East made off with a 56-33 victory. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while the Cougars are ranked 1314th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Spring Woods' win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.4 points over those games. As for Victoria East, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season.
