Football Recap: Landen Mentillo and Caleb Jones Lead the Defense for Satellite Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Satellite had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top against the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls by a score of 28-15. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Scorpions.

Logan Waite continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 100 yards and one touchdown. Alex Batallas did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 85 receiving yards.

Satellite didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited LaBelle to a completion percentage of just 46.2%. The Scorpions have been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.61 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.61 in their last three games.

Satellite didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Landen Mentillo and Caleb Jones.

When it comes to explaining why LaBelle lost, don't look at Marquay Bradshaw. Despite the final result, he rushed for 91 yards and one score.

Satellite's record now sits at 10-1. As for LaBelle, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 10-1.

Looking ahead, Satellite will face off against American Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Scorpions 8.4, the Stallions 13.6) so any points scored will be well earned. LaBelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
