Recap: Sierra Canyon Trailblazers vs. Santa Margarita Eagles
With a playoff game on the line, the Sierra Canyon Trailblazers rose to the challenge on Friday. They took down the Eagles 37-20. Sierra Canyon's win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Sierra Canyon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dane Dunn led the charge by rushing for 149 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Dunn has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell Cooks jr., who rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.
Santa Margarita's loss came despite strong showings from John Gazzaniga and Trent Mosley. Gazzaniga rushed for 28 yards and a touchdown, while Mosley gained 103 total yards and a touchdown.
Sierra Canyon's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. As for Santa Margarita, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.
Sierra Canyon will head out on the road to face off against Mater Dei at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Mater Dei: 9.4, Sierra Canyon: 10.1) so any points scored will be well earned. Santa Margarita does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
