Baseball Game Preview: Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians vs. Woodlawn Cardinals

The Carlyle Indians/Lady Indians will face off against the Woodlawn Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Carlyle's offense. They came up short against New Athens on Wednesday, falling 12-0. The loss continues a trend for the Indians/Lady Indians in their meetings with the Yellow Jackets: they've now lost five in a row.

Carlyle saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jon Schmitt, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Woodlawn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-1 to Zeigler-Royalton.

Carlyle's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Woodlawn, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Carlyle took their victory against Woodlawn in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 14-2. Does Carlyle have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodlawn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
