Baseball Game Preview: Section Lions vs. North Sand Mountain Bison

For the second straight game, Section will face off against North Sand Mountain. The Lions will welcome the Bison at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Section made up a huge gap compared to their last game against North Sand Mountain, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions fell just short of the Bison by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled against the Bison recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

For North Sand Mountain's part, Luke Reed was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Reed has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other batting news, Jackson Burgess was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

North Sand Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Section, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
