Baseball Recap: Western Reserve Academy Pioneers vs. Kiski School Cougars
Western Reserve Academy had lost four straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-10 to make it five. They came up short against the Kiski School Cougars, falling 11-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-3 back in April.
As for Kiski School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Kiski School's part, Cy Zufall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Zufall has become a key player for Kiski School: the team is 5-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise. Zufall was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three).
Zufall wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Fielding Strauss, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs. That's the most runs Strauss has posted since back in May of 2025. Another was Parker Hannah, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
