The Valley View Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Wallenpaupack Area Buckhorns at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Valley View will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Valley View's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over West Scranton. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Taylor Cawley made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Valley View got a massive performance out of Kalli Karwowski, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Abbi Call, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs.
Valley View lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Wallenpaupack Area fell victim to Abington Heights and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Comets. The game marked the first time this season in which the Buckhorns were not able to get on the board.
Valley View's record is now 7-1-1. As for Wallenpaupack Area, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Valley View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .479. However, it's not like Wallenpaupack Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley View came up short against Wallenpaupack Area in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
