Softball Recap: Morgan County Cougars vs. Lee County Bobcats

Morgan County had lost nine straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-25 to make it ten. They came up short against the Lee County Bobcats, falling 8-0. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, with their most recent loss being a 6-0 defeat back in April.

Morgan County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Rupe, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Those stolen bases were Rupe's first of the season.

As for Lee County, their win bumped their record up to 8-12. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Lee County's side, not much got past Preslee Cundiff, who gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep Morgan County off the board. Cundiff has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Trinity Price, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Coming up, Morgan County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Magoffin County at 6:00 p.m. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Hornets have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Lee County, they will head out to square off against Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
