Softball Recap: Beecher's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It was a proper cat-fight when Beecher challenged St. Anne on Tuesday. The Bobcats were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Cardinals. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Taylor Norkus made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Beecher let Mia Chavez and Ava Olson run wild. Chavez went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Olson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Chavez has posted over her last ten contests. Another player making a difference was Makenzie Johnson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.

The victory (which was Beecher's fifth in a row) raised their record to 26-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for St. Anne, their loss was their 21st straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Beecher has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Peotone on the 7th. As for St. Anne, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 12-11 defeat against Iroquois West on the 8th.
