After a string of four wins, St. Augustine's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of the Holy Cross Tigers by a score of 7-6. The Purple Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

St. Augustine got a good showing from Xander Brady, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Brady has allowed over his last four matchups.

At the plate, Kenyon Hughes was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Dylan Robinson, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

St. Augustine's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10. As for Holy Cross, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Augustine will face off against Brother Martin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holy Cross, they will square off against Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
