Baseball Game Preview: Mitchell Bluejackets vs. Clarksville Generals

The Mitchell Bluejackets will face off against the Clarksville Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, Mitchell was able to grind out a solid win over Eastern, taking the game 5-2. The victory continues a trend for the Bluejackets in their matchups with the Musketeers: they've now won four in a row.

Gavin Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mitchell let Blake King and Ryker Moore run wild. King went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI, while Moore went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Those three hits gave King a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Clarksville can bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They came out on top against Crothersville by a score of 6-2.

Talon Moore was a standout: he got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

Clarksville's win bumped their record up to 3-19. As for Mitchell, their victory bumped their record up to 8-13.

Everything went Mitchell's way against Clarksville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023, as Mitchell made off with a 20-1 win. Do the Bluejackets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
