Baseball Recap: Marshall Beats Santa Fe for Their Fourth Straight Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Marshall walked away with it. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Santa Fe Chiefs on Friday, sneaking past 1-0. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four contests in a row.

Not much got past Caleb Thatcher, who gave up just six hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Santa Fe off the board. Thatcher has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Marshall's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Pandullo, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Marshall's win bumped their record up to 19-6-1. As for Santa Fe, they moved to 15-17 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, Marshall will be playing in front of their home fans against Heritage Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.3, the Warriors 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Santa Fe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
