Basketball Preview: Holy Cross Tigers vs. Archbishop Rummel Raiders

The Holy Cross Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Archbishop Rummel Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Holy Cross can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Brother Martin by a score of 65-58. The victory was all the more spectacular given Holy Cross' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while the Crusaders are ranked 30th).

Even though Archbishop Rummel has not done well against the Blue Jays recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Archbishop Rummel came out on top in a nail-biter against the Blue Jays and snuck past 41-38. The win was some much needed relief for Archbishop Rummel as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak.

Archbishop Rummel's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tj Duhe, who scored 13 points along with three steals. Jamard Jones was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.

Holy Cross now has a winning record of 14-13. As for Archbishop Rummel, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 20-14.

Holy Cross came up short against the Raiders in their previous meeting back in January, falling 56-44. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Duhe, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Now that Holy Cross knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
