Basketball Game Preview: Bishop's Knights vs. Francis Parker Lancers

The Bishop's Knights will square off against the Francis Parker Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Bishop's was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 65-59 to La Jolla Country Day. The Knights have struggled against the Torreys recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Francis Parker ended up a good deal behind Montgomery on Wednesday and lost 71-56. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Aztecs are ranked 13th).

Despite the defeat, Francis Parker saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tavid Johnson went 9 of 17 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. Johnson's evening made it 31 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Jones, who posted eight points and three steals.

Francis Parker has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Bishop's, their loss dropped their record down to 12-8.
