Baseball Recap: Middletown South Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Middletown South lost to Red Bank Catholic back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Eagles had just enough and edged out the Caseys 2-1. The two-run effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Peter DeNicola spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

At the plate, Middletown South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brendan Sliva, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Sliva hit this season.

Middletown South's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Red Bank Catholic, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-2.
