Francis Shutts was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kat Gouge was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Fialdini, who got on base in all six of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Nathan Hale was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cleveland only posted a batting average of .062.
Meanwhile, Holy Names Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Garfield, falling 11-1.
Delanie Gilda made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Holy Names Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Nathan Hale, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Nathan Hale has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Holy Names Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
