Preview: Ridgewood Generals vs. Newcomerstown Trojans
Ridgewood is 9-1 against Newcomerstown since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Ridgewood Generals the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Newcomerstown Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. Hopefully Ridgewood is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Newcomerstown in Ohio (Ridgewood is ranked 211th, while Newcomerstown is ranked 797th).
Even though Ridgewood has not done well against Sandy Valley recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Ridgewood came out on top against Sandy Valley by a score of 62-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Meanwhile, Newcomerstown's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their seventh straight loss. They fell just short of Toronto by a score of 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Newcomerstown has suffered yet this season.
Ridgewood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. As for Newcomerstown, they bumped their record down to 1-14 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Ridgewood against Newcomerstown in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 49-15 win. Will Ridgewood repeat their success, or does Newcomerstown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
