The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, it was close, but Mountain Vista sidestepped Fossil Ridge for an 8-7 win.
Chase Ruden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up six Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Mountain Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Spike Magill was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one triple. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Elam Parisis also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Collins). They came out on top against Mountain View by a score of 10-7 on Wednesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Evan Gaschler looked comfortable as he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Oliver Stanevich, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Kaden Souders was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Fort Collins hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matches.
Fort Collins' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-6. As for Mountain Vista, their record is now 4-5.
Mountain Vista came up short against Fort Collins when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Golden Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
