Baseball Recap: Sparta Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Forsyth, Sparta was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Crane Pirates by a score of 8-3. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.

Austin Humble and Vincent Almendarez did most of the damage at the plate: Humble scored two runs while going 1-for-3, while Almendarez went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Those three hits gave Almendarez a new career-high.

Sparta now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Crane, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sparta will venture away from home to face off against Fordland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Fordland's pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so Sparta's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crane, they are taking a road trip to take on Pierce City at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
