Baseball Game Preview: Louisburg Warriors vs. Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs

The Louisburg Warriors will square off against the Durham School of the Arts Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Louisburg turned things around against Southern School of Energy and Sustainability on Monday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 20-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Durham School of the Arts came out on top against J.F. Webb on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs blew past the Warriors 17-8. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won six in a row.

Oliver Seed made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 5.1 innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Durham School of the Arts is undefeated when Seed posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Durham School of the Arts let Mars Hartmann and Vaughn Rogers run wild. Hartmann got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Rogers went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave Hartmann a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Matuszewski, who went 1-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

Durham School of the Arts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Durham School of the Arts' win bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Louisburg, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Everything went Louisburg's way against Durham School of the Arts in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Louisburg made off with a 12-0 win. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
