Softball Recap: Turkeyfoot Valley Area Takes a Loss

Turkeyfoot Valley Area couldn't beat Blacklick Valley on Tuesday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the second inning. The Rams fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 13-11. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Vikings this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-7 last Tuesday.

Laurel Vogel and Rianna Culp did some serious damage despite the final result: Vogel went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Culp went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That RBI was Vogel's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kiley Mitchell, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Turkeyfoot Valley Area and nudges their season record down to 2-7. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Blacklick Valley, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.

Turkeyfoot Valley Area didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-5 loss against Shade on the 1st. As for Blacklick Valley, they have also already played their next matchup, a 17-16 defeat against Bishop Carroll on the 30th.
