Baseball Recap: Compton Tarbabes vs. Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears
While Compton put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Port of Los Angeles. The Tarbabes sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Polar Bears. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 last Friday.
Not much got past Andrew Ruiz, who gave up just two hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Port of Los Angeles off the board. Ruiz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
Compton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Port of Los Angeles, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
Coming up, Compton will head out to face off against Millikan at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Port of Los Angeles, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Harbor Teacher at 3:00 p.m.
