Basketball Recap: Jamal Chretien II Key Part of a Team Effort in Rams Win

Mayde Creek won the last time they faced Katy Taylor and things went their way on Friday too. The Mayde Creek Rams came out on top against the Katy Taylor Mustangs by a score of 76-63. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 249th, while the Mustangs are ranked 625th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mayde Creek's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamal Chretien II led the charge by putting up 19 points and five boards. Chretien II continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Christian Gibson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Mayde Creek now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Katy Taylor, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-21 record this season.
