Albany hasn't had much luck against El Cerrito recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Gauchos at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
While Albany's win against Terra Linda wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Trojans on Monday.

Reuben Turbow tossed a big game, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Preston McGowen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Richards, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, El Cerrito waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 8-3.
The team relied heavily on Kamal Bhatt, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Coles, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Albany's record is now 15-7. As for El Cerrito, their record now sits at an identical 15-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Albany has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like El Cerrito struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Albany beat El Cerrito 8-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
