Baseball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Northeastern Eagles

For the second straight game, First Flight will face off against Northeastern. The Nighthawks will welcome the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

First Flight is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Northeastern with a sharp 13-5 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Nighthawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Gavin Capps was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dillon Francis was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three doubles, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025. Fionn Reilly was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

First Flight was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeastern only posted a batting average of .208.

Northeastern is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4. As for First Flight, they moved to 7-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. First Flight has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Northeastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
