Baseball Recap: Kenwood Comes Up Short

Kenwood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 14-8 to the McEwen Warriors.

Adian Mayweather put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Mayweather wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Marvin Wares, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. Wares has become a key player for Kenwood: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-13 otherwise.

Kenwood's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for McEwen, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kenwood will face off against Fort Campbell at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.29 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for McEwen, they are taking a road trip to square off against Waverly Central at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
