Baseball Recap: Westminster Comes Up Short

If Westminster was riding high fresh off their 11-5 takedown of Boulder on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wolves came up short against the Brighton Bulldogs on Thursday, falling 11-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-2 last Saturday.

Westminster saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rene Salinas, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Salinas has hit this season.

Westminster's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Brighton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westminster will head out to face off against Pomona at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.15 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Brighton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Vista PEAK Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
